Gavin Berkley is an Active-Duty Army Officer. Originally from Western Pennsylvania, he was an accomplished athlete and wrestler throughout high school. Gavin was recruited to wrestle at the NCAA Division 1 level for the United States Military Academy at West Point. After graduating and commissioning as in Officer in the Infantry, he got stationed at Fort Moore, GA, where he underwent the Infantry Officer Basic Course, Airborne School, and Ranger School. Gavin was then assigned to Fort Stewart, outside Savannah, GA.
Growing up in a small Pennsylvania town taught him many lessons he holds close, such as the importance of community, family, a relentless work ethic. The idea that “hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard,” is a virtue he has always tried to live by.
During his time in the military, he has had the opportunity to lead in different capacities and echelons, both in the United States and overseas. He has always strived to ingrain many of the important lessons he learned as a student-athlete at West Point and throughout his life in his formations. Gavin has undergone many trials, both personally and professionally but credits his faith and background for being able to overcome whatever is thrown at him to become a better version of self for those who depend on him. Gavin identifies his greatest strength as his willingness and capacity to endure suffering, something he hopes to instill in others.
