Michael (Mike) Diaz is an active-duty Army Officer of 16.5 years in Conventional and Special Operations units. Michael entered the Army in 2007 as a Signal Support Specialist and serve in various leadership roles until eventually being selected into the Special Operations Civil Affairs branch. Following his assignments in Civil Affairs, Michael applied for the active-duty Green to Gold Program and commissioned in 2019 as a Intelligence Officer from Campbell University. He went on the serve at Fort Liberty, NC, formerly Fort Bragg. He currently is serving at Fort Liberty NC as the Commander HHC 3/82 General Support Aviation Battalion. His service is including multiple combat deployments throughout his time in Special Operations and Conventional Units.
Mike was raised by a single mother who taught him that every challenge should be face headfirst. His mothers’ challenges raising two children taught him that even in the most difficult times to always remember they are only temporary. This simple, yet powerful concept has stuck with him as he has never seen a problem as unsolvable. Mike believes that all people posses the potential to be the best version of themselves even in their darkest moments.
Mike is no stranger to challenges; however, his fierce power of pursuit, tenacity, and grit have proven Gods plans are always worth following. Mike is a father, youth baseball/softball, community and church leader, and an advocate for change. Mike leads with intent and empowers those to develop, grow, and prosper in their environments. He challenges them to think beyond problems directly in front of you and to widen your lens. Most problems require simple solutions, however simple solutions require great understanding.
